Xocolat: A Chocolate Haven

Xocolat in Katipunan is a favorite among students from UP, Ateneo and Miriam because they serve unique dishes (everything has a touch of chocolate) and of course YUMMY desserts. It was back in December last year when Geraldine and I had lunch here to satisfy our sweet cravings.

To start off this is Xocolat's Parmesan Crusted Sole Fillet served with Potato Gratini (Php195). It is just an ordinary fish with parmesan crust I could hardly taste. The sauce that came with it was okay as well. But nothing extraordinary about this dish.

Xocolat's Cream Dory (Php185) is also served with Potato Gratini and comes with cream sauce. This is a CRAVE HIT for us. The five spice dory with a little bit of that basil cream sauce was just really delicious. They said that this was one of their bestsellers and we highly recommend it too.

For the dessert we ordered their bestseller: That Xocolat Cake (Php95). It did not disappoint. It had the right kind of chocolate sweetness. This is highly recommended specially when there are occasions such as birthdays, valentine's, anniversary, monthsary, weeksary. You name it all. This cake is perfect for any day of the year. One whole cake will cost you Php695 but I say it is worth it.

We ordered this other cake but we totally forgot what it is called. It was not in the menu either. We even forgot what it tastes like. If it was good we would remember it. Since we did not remember, just skip this and try other cakes.

We would surely go back to this place and try their other chocolate-laced dishes and other delicious looking cakes. This is a place for those people who enjoy the company of chocolate in everything they eat. Even their pastas, paninis and meriendas have a touch of chocolate. This homey place in Katipunan is truly a chocolate haven :)

Sophie's Mom @ McKinley, Taguig

"This is a #happyplace" - Sophie's Mom

After we had our dinner in The Red Crab we looked for some place else to eat dessert. We checked lots of places: Red Crab itself, Old Vine, Tokyo Cafe. Sadly, no matter where we went whatever we wanted to order was not available. Finally we decided to try something new so we went to Sophie's Mom. This place is known for their signature Red Velvet Cupcakes which are absolutely amazing.

The interior of this place had a very homey feel. Surely felt like a mom arranged everything. The colors, the furniture everything looked like a very caring mom had done it.

Geraldine was so fond of the place that we decided we were going to eat there without even looking at what was available. Sadly they had very limited cakes available per slice that night. Since SM's cupcakes are already tried and tested we agreed that we were going to try their chocolate cake.

It was a moist chocolate cake that was enough for two people to consume. What was cute about this cake is that it had a cheesecake filling that was shaped like a heart. It was good but not special. We did not finish the cake. Maybe because we were still full from our heavy dinner or because it was too chocolatey for us. Chocolate lovers will be really happy with this though.

Sophie's Mom is a great place to get your daily dose of sweets. Sadly that day we were already too late for the party and there were very limited choices. However, we will surely go back. Who wouldn't?

After all this place truly exudes the #happyplace vibe.
